Previously, Mr Dinh Phuc Tieu, Director of Noi Bai Catering Services Joint Stock Company (NCS), spent a lot of time going from his offices to production units as they were nearly a kilometre apart. However, the new production unit and office are adjacent. The new company headquarters were built on an area of 6,436 square metres, including a 3,462 square metre production unit and a two-story office building of 528 square metres per story.

Director Tieu said this project needs nearly one year to complete, with total investment capital of VND15 billion (US$937,500), exclusive of machines and equipment worth some VND20 billion from old units. The project started in April 2006 and construction began on September 6, 2006, finishing March 26, 2007. This is a major feat for the company, building the new facilities while ensuring the operation of the old ones.

Tieu added, in 2006, NCS served 15,252 flights, including VIP and charter flights. NCS customers are Vietnam Airlines, Vladivostok Air, Aeroflot, Asiana Airlines, Royal Khmer Airlines, Pacific Airlines, Air France, China Southern Airlines and Uzbekistan Airways, which are always pleased about NCS service quality, especially during the 2006 APEC Leaders Summit in Vietnam.

Since early 2007, although the company encountered difficulties ensuring the increasing supply of services during public holidays while putting new facilities into operation, it still made high growth. In the first quarter of 2007, NCS served 654,266 rations, an on-year increase of 6.97 per cent, and made total revenue of VND32,520,379,869 (US$2 million), up 13.34 per cent year on year.

With the new facility, NCS is able to serve new clients like Hongkong Airlines and Japan Airlines and is negotiating other catering deals with Uni Air. In the near future, NCS will have more new clients like Korean Air, China Airlines and Far Eastern Transport.

The operation of the new facility is a major milestone in NCS development. NCS will grow, expand business operations, improve service quality, and professionalize its workforce. NCS is sure to become a leading catering service on the international market.
