Informal Mid-year Consultative Group Meeting for Vietnam

The Informal Mid-year Consultative Group Meeting for Vietnam took place in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province on June 1-2, 2007. Attendants to the meeting included major financial organisations like International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB) and representatives from governments with donations to Vietnam.
 
Mr James Adamsm, Vice Chairman of the WB, said, Vietnam made high growth rates in recent years and in the first six months of 2007 together with its efforts to reduce poverty. These were exemplary models for other countries to follow, according to international donors.
 
At the discussion about the socioeconomic development plan in the first six months of 2007, senior economic specialists and international donors thought that the Vietnamese positive economy would continue growing in the coming time.
Also at the conference, the Foreign Investment Department under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, announced that the ministry had received applications for 40 projects with a combined investment capital ofUS$35 billion.
