The Ho Chi Minh City government has approved a project developing the water supply network (Level 2) valued at over VND413 billion ($25.81 million), aiming to receive and use clean water from the Kenh Dong water supply project.

The Saigon Water Supply Corporation (Sawaco) as the project developer is scheduled to kick off the work this year, which is based on free-interest loans sourced from the municipal budget via the Urban Development Investment Fund.

The project is expected to meet residents’ clean water demand in District 12, Hoc Mon and Binh Chanh districts.

Besides, the network will receive and use clean water from the second phase of Saigon River Water Supply project, setting up a clean water supply network for municipal residents according to city’s clean water supply general plan by 2020.

Earlier, Sawaco granted over VND151.5 billion ($9.46 million) to Trung An Water Supply Plant to develop a clean water supply network in Go Vap district and District 12 of the city, benefiting nearly 20,000 local households.

The metropolis has so far built and expanded 69 concentrated clean water supply stations, and provided 11,600 water cisterns of 320 liters each for rural residents, helping 29,000 rural households with 150,000 people access clean water. (Vietnam Economic Times, Youth)
