The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Vietnam have signed a credit agreement under which the former pledges US$53.2 million in preferential loans for providing clean drinking water and maintaining a clean environment for people living in small urban zones in central Vietnam.

The funds will be poured into upgrading water supply systems and sanitation infrastructure in eight small and medium towns in Binh Thuan, Dak Nong, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Phu Yen provinces.

The project will be implemented for over five years, ending in December 2011. The loan has a maturity of 32 years, including eight years of grace.
