Vietnam, US Bolster Anti-Money Laundering Cooperation
The US expects to work more closely with Vietnam in fighting money laundering, said Michael Marine, the US Ambassador to Vietnam.
Marine made the statement when meeting with Vietnam’s Finance Minister Vu Van Ninh in Hanoi recently to discuss financial and economic issues between two countries.
The US wants to coordinate with Vietnam in developing, managing and running the country's capital markets, cooperating with international organizations to manage capital inflows and Vietnam’s participation in Asia Pacific financial working groups, and opening Vietnamese bank representative offices in the US.
The US will also help Vietnam fight the proliferation of weapon of mass destruction and money laundering, as well as developing anti-money laundering regulations.
At the talks, Ninh thanked the US ambassador for the suggestions on coordination, saying that Vietnam is ready to cooperate with the US in economics and finance in the coming time and hopes that relations between the two countries will be developed further. (Vietnam and World Economy, VNA)
