S. Korea Cos Seeking to Invest in Vietnam's Seaports, Expressways

South Korea investors are much interested in developing seaport, expressway projects in Vietnam, said Kim Young-Yu, South Korean minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE), state media reported.
 
Kim Young –Yu who was accompanied by some 20 business leaders, made the remark during a recent meeting with Vietnam’s Transport Minister Ho Nghia Dung in Vietnam.
 
The two sides discussed possibilities of South Korean investors to take part in construction of the North-South express railway, Nhon Trach-Thu Duc expressway, and warehouse station in Tan Son Nhat airport.
 
South Korea has provided ODA loans to build Lach Huyen seaport in Haiphong city, Cai Mep Ha seaport in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.
 
The country has set national priority for 30 key seaports in the 2006-2010 period.
 
Vietnam will build 24 airports by 2015, including six international airports. It needs US$6 billion to renew or upgrade existing airports, of the amount, 20 per cent is to be sourced from the State budget, and the rest will have to come from outside sources. (Transportation)
