Vietnam Calls Japanese Investors into Central Region
The Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and the Vietnamese Embassy to Japan joined hands to hold an investment promotion conference entitled “Investment into Central Vietnam” in Tokyo July 9, state media said.
Representatives from Danang City, Quang Nam province and the Dung Quat Economic Zone Committee pledged to offer various incentives for Japanese investors, noting that central provinces will coordinate with the Japan-ASEAN Centre to arrange for a delegation of Japanese businesses to tour central Vietnam next month.
At the gathering, Danang City called on Japanese investment into building the Hoa Khuong industrial zone, Lien Chieu port, Ba Na ecotourism site, a new urban centre northwest of Danang city and upgrading the airport to launch an air route linking the city with Japan.
Vietnam is emerging as a very attractive destination for Japanese companies for stable society and young and low-cost labor force, said director of the Japan-ASEAN centre Nobutoshi Akao. He also urged Japanese investors to get deeper penetration into this promising market.
According to a recent survey by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), over 75 per cent of Japanese companies investing in Vietnam select the fast growing economy as the best investment destination in Southeast Asia for the coming 5-10 years.
Vietnam ranked second, just behind India, in Asia and was listed highest among ASEAN countries, where Japanese manufacturers expect to make higher profits in 2007, the JETRO said. (Vietnam & World Economy)
