Vietnam, Japan to Boost Investment, Education Cooperation
Jpanese Lower House members pledged to call for more Japanese investment into Vietnam’s Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park and help train 2,000 Vietnamese students in Japan, at their talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in Hanoi August 20, said local media.
The delegation of the Japanese Lower House headed by Chairman of the Japanese Liberal Democratic Party's Diet Policy Nikai Toshihiro toured the Japanese-funded Hoa Lac Hi-tech zone in Hanoi and held talks with Dung and State President Nguyen Minh Triet.
The meetings aimed to discuss how to get the three major Japanese-funded infrastructure projects of the Hoa Lac Hi-tech zone, the north-south highway and railway routes off the ground as quickly as possible.
Japanese delegates told the Vietnamese leader that they would encourage their small- and medium-sized firms as well as Japanese localities to invest into the park, and boost education and training cooperation as well as cultural exchange with Vietnam.
Prime Minister Dung and President Triet also appreciated the guest’s promise and expressed their hope for more Japanese into Vietnam’s infrastructure and transport projects in the coming time.
The host and guest vowed to frequently make contact with each other in order to ensure the pace and effectiveness of the cooperative projects.
Japan now ranks the third among investors in Vietnam with 735 projects worth US$7.4 billion, and also is the biggest ODA provider of Vietnam. Deputy Finance Minister of Japan Shigeyuki Tomita has affirmed that Japanese ODA-funded projects are now effectively implemented in Vietnam. (The People, Website of Government, Party)
