Vietnam will enhance the comprehensive and deeper ties with the Federal Republic of Brazil, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said December 24.

The government leader made the affirmation while receiving Brazilian outgoing ambassador to Vietnam Alcides G. R. Prates.

The Prime Minister Dung highly valued the ambassador's vigorous activities during his term in Vietnam and hoped he would continue, through his new duties, to contribute to the two countries' friendship and sustainable relations.

The Brazilian diplomat for his part thanked the PM Dung for his warm welcome and emphasized he would actively act for the bilateral and mutual cooperation between Vietnam and Brazil.

Vietnam and Brazil established diplomatic relations in May 1989.

Although the bilateral trade volume has lately seen a rapid growth, it is yet commensurate with the huge potentials. The two-way trade turnover increased from US$75 million in 2004 to US$113.8 million in 2005 and US$204 million last year.
