Coca-Cola Southeast Asia: Making Great Contributions to Education and Community in Vietnam
Coca-Cola has carried out many significant activities to the education and community in Vietnam. Apart from granting scholarships and donations, Coca-Cola trained and share skills and experience to learners.
In 2007, Coca-Cola carried out many meaningful activities. From example, the Coca - Cola Support Fund granted 50 scholarships worth VND500,000 each to children of its members in Hanoi, 125 scholarships worth VND400,000 each and 100 scholarships worth VND500,000 to flood-hit children in central Vietnam.
In early 2008, the Coca-Cola Wheelchair Supporting Fund lent VND150 million to 55 female members and granted scholarships to 66 poor students. So far, the Coca-Cola Wheelchair Supporting Fund helped over 4,000 poor women in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Khanh Hoa to improve their living standards by selling wheelchairs. Besides, the programme also presented 10 charity houses and over 200 scholarships to poor students.
In the cooperation programme between Coca-Cola and the Ministry of Education and Training in 2008, Coca-Cola will give supports to education programme by organising seminars at selected universities in Vietnam to share soft skills, knowledge and experience in working and business environments, which rarely introduced to learners at school. Recently, in Can Tho City, the first out of 10 conference programmes opened each year for excellent students at economic, foreign language and social sciences. Mr. Do Van Xe, Deputy Rector of Can Tho University, said this is a new and practical support in education field. Besides, he proposed expanding this support for teachers and youth managers. He said “they will transmit experience to following students.”
