Vietnam Co. Builds US$280-Mln Car-carrier Vessels for Norway Partner

Nam Trieu Shipbuilding Industry Corp., an affiliate of the Vinashin Business Group, has recently started building a 6,900-car carrier ship for ’s Hoegh Autoliners, the Labor newspaper said Wednesday.

 

This is the first of four vessels worth US$280 million contracted to build between the two companies, said the source.

 

The 16-storey vessel is designed to have 13 stories for cars with total area of 61,800 square meters, it noted.

 

The vessel will be 199.9 meters in length, 32 meters in width and 41 meters in height and installed with a 16,660-kW main engine. It is designed by ’s Delta Marine Co and will be built under the supervision of ’s registration agency.

 

The newspaper did not give information about the time for completion of the vessel, however. (Labor, Youth)
