Vietnam is making its efforts to expand exports such as tea, coffee, spices, pepper, footwear, apparels, electronic products, electric wires and cables to India, a Vietnamese commercial envoy was cited by Vietnam News Agency as saying.

Commercial Counselor to India, Nguyen Tan Quang said at a seminar titled “Promoting Vietnam-India Trade and Investment", which was held for the first time in Madhya Pradesh state, India May 27.

Vietnamese firms want to join hands with local counterparts to learn how to grow soybeans, produce cooking oil from soybeans and cattle feed in Vietnam, Quang noted.

Madhya Pradesh produced and exported most soybeans products, accounting for 59 per cent of India’s total soybean output.

The two-way trade surpassed US$1.5 billion last year, with India-bound export value reaching US$180 million. Vietnam imported US$450 million worth of soybean oil cakes used as feeds in cattle breeding and aquaculture.

Indian companies participating in the event showed their interest in veterinary medicine production in Vietnam and want to ship nutritive and anti-malnutrition products to the Southeast Asian market. (VNA)
