France Helps Vietnam Produce Red Wine

A delegation from the Aquitaine region, France, led by Jean Guerard, vice president of Aquitaine regional council has promised to help the Vietnam’s northern mountainous province of Lao Cai to produce red wind.
 
During the visit to the province June 12-14, the delegation reviewed co-operative projects, such as the development of Lao Cai tourism sector, including Sapa’s planting of temperate fruit.
 
They agreed with provincial leaders’ proposals to build a facility to produce red wine in Lao Cai and utilize the fruit that is being planted in the region.
 
Aquitaine region has granted Lao Cai with more than 3,600 fruit trees of grape, peach, plum, apple and kiwi, and helped the province train technical officials.
 
In 2008, Lao Cai planned to grow around five hectares of foreign peach trees.
 
On the occasion, the Lao Cai People’s Committee presented the “honorable citizenship” title to Jean Guerard for his contribution to local socio-economic development. (Vietnam Economic Times)
