APEC Leaders Sit Together to Discuss Anti-corruption in Hanoi

Eighty leaders of 21 APEC economies, regional and international anti-corruption agencies gathered at an international conference on anti-corruption opening in Hanoi June 25 to discuss ways in the fight against corruption and administrative reforms, the Kinh Te Viet Nam & The Gioi newspaper said.
 
The leaders discussed the interlink between anti-corruption and administrative reform with the focus on contributive role of administrative reform, the role of inspectorate, procedural reform helping corruption prevention, public administrative reform and private sector&rsquos role.
 
Participants also shared practical experience in each economy, then find out effective ways and focused on state staff management on the track to build non-bribery and corruption-free culture among business community.
 
APEC leaders acknowledged progress made by the Vietnamese national assembly and government in anti-corruption fight, which will issue a law on anti-corruption soon.
 
Public opinions are anxious to follow the most notorious corruption scandal at the road building agency of Project management unit (PMU) 18 with former head the scandal-inspecting agency, Pham Xuan Quac, 62, being prosecuted and two other journalists arrested.
 
Vietnamese mass media have still silenced since they were arrested. (Vietnam and World Report)
