Vietnam FPT, Hong Kong Telecom Ink Cooperative Deal
Vietnam FPT Telecom and PCCW, the largest telecommunication services provider in Hong Kong have signed an agreement on internet services cooperation, the Dau Tu newspaper reported on August 20.
“The move is part of PCCW’s efforts to further expand operations in Vietnam,” an official from Hong Kong Telecom provider said.
The two sides will operate networking and internet services in Vietnam, aiming at linking Vietnam with everywhere worldwide.
The cooperation will bring multi-national groups as well as customers a chance to better get access to advanced Internet network, software and network services of PCCW.
Last year, PCCW inked an agreement with DTS Communication Technologies Corp, the Vietnam’s leading independent Systems Integrator in the Information Communication Technology industry.
Vietnam has made efforts in developing its telecommunication network and services, becoming one of the world’s fastest nations in telecom development. The country currently has 58 million phone subscribers, equating to 67 telephones for every 100 people in the country. It also reports 20 million internet users.
Vietnam targets to raise the ratio of internet users to 40 per cent by 2010. (Investment)
