Vietnam to Spend US$152 Mln for Apatite Ore Exploitation by 2020
Vietnam will invest VND2.5 trillion (over US$152 million) into apatite ore exploitation and sorting in the 2008-2010 period, aiming to reach a set output of 42.6 million tons, according to a development plan recently approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Under the plan, the ministry will pour the fund into raising the capacity of Tang Loong Ore Processing Factory to 900,000 tons and maintain the output of Cam Duong Ore-sorting Plant at 120,000 tons per year.
The investment be spent on building three new ore sorting plants namely Bac Nhac Son with an annual capacity of 350,000 tons, Lang Phung 250,000 tons and a plant to sort type-II and IV ore 500,000 tons.
These five factories are all located at the northern province of Lao Cai.
The country’s average output of type I and IV crude and sorted ores is expected at 2 million-2.5 million tons per year between 2008 and 2010 and 3 million-3.5 million tons the 2011-2015 period and 4 million-4.5 million tons from 2016 to 2020.
According to the ministry, apatite demand for single super phosphate, fused calcium magnesium phosphate and DAP fertilizer is forecast at 2.48 million in 2010 and 4.27 million in 2020. (Vietnam & World Economy)
