The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) has signed a contract to buy another six ATR72-500 planes worth a total US$112 million with ATR. The move followed the VNA’s order to buy five ATR72-500 planes in December 2007.

The six new planes will bring the fleet of ATR 72-500 operated by VNA to 11 by 2010, the biggest ATR fleet in Southeast Asia.
Vietnam Airlines is operating 50 planes of different kinds, including ten ATR 72 planes (three ATR 72-500 planes and seven ATR 72-200 planes). Vietnam Airlines started operating ATR 72-500 planes, which use modern, energy-saving and environmentally-friendly technology in September, 2001.
