Vietnam Exports 2.88 Mln Tons of Crude Oil in Jan-Feb, +26.7 per cent On Year
Vietnam is forecast to rake in US$958 million from exporting 2.88 million metric tons of crude oil in the first two months of this year, down 42.4 per cent on-year in value but up 26.7 per cent on-year in volume, said the General Statistic Office (GSO).
Crude oil has dropped to the second place in export value after garments and textiles since September 2008, representing 11.94 per cent of the country’s export revenues in Jan-Feb, said the office.
In February, the Southeast Asian country is estimated to export 1.5 million metric tons of crude oil worth US$500 million, up 7.99 per cent and 9.17 per cent on-month and up 42.58 per cent in volume on-year but down 35.06 per cent in value, respectively.
The country is estimated to import 1.82 million metric tons of petroleum products during the period worth US$753 million, down 26.2 per cent on year in volume and 60 per cent in value.
Communist Vietnam has recently inaugurated its first Dung Quat oil refinery, which will help meet a third of the domestic demand. (GSO Feb 2009)
