Coal Exports Fetch 2.95 Mln Tons in Jan-Feb, Down 6.2 per cent On-year
Vietnam is estimated to ship abroad 2.95 million tons of coal in the first two months this year, valued at US$159 million, down 6.2 per cent on-year in volume but up 9.4 per cent on-year in value, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.
Of the total figures, February accounts for 1.5 million tons valued at US$80 million, the office said.
This year, the country is forecast to export 19.5 million tons, 500,000 tons lower than 2008.
Vietnam is currently key coal supplier to China and Japan. (GSO Feb 2009)
