HCM City to Host Furniture & Handicraft Fair mid-March

The Vietnam International Furniture and Home Accessories Fair (VIFA 2009) will take place at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City from March 11th-14th.
 
This is the second time the fair the HCM City Handicraft & Wood Industry Association (HAWA) will have opened.
 
More than 150 business delegations from 61 countries and territories have so far registered to attend the event, almost double the figure of the VIFA in 2008, Tran Quoc Manh, vice chairman of HAWA said at a recent press conference to introduce the fair.
 
The HAWA said some 40 per cent of companies participating in the fair are foreign invested ones from Singapore, France, Malaysia, Britain, Germany, China, Finland, Italy, Thailand, Japan and Norway.
 
Reportedly, the organization board of VIFA 2009 will spend around US$150,000 to advertise the event in foreign furniture magazines.
 
Vietnam, the second biggest furniture exporter in ASEAN, targets at exports revenue of US$3.2 billion in 2009. Its products have been exported to 120 countries in the world.
