Rubber Export Down 50 per cent in Jan-Feb
Vietnam is estimated to rake in US$101 million from exporting 79,000 tons of rubber in the first two months of 2009, down 50.5 per cent in terms of value and 11.4 per cent in volume compared to the same period of last year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
In Feb, the country exported 40,000 tons worth US$51 million, up from 39,000 tons worth US$51 million in January
Traders expected that the export will rebound as prices of rubber have surged in the past days with more demand from Chinese importers.
In February, rubber exports to China were averaged at US$1,359 a ton; to South Korea, US$1,262 a ton; and to Malaysia, US$1,332 a ton. (GSO February Edition)
