First E-Payment Gate Debuts in Vietnam
Smartlink Card Service Joint Stock Co and MasterCard International Card Institution on March 16 officially co-launched Smartlink-MasterCard E-payment gate, marking the first e-payment gate in Vietnam.
The Smartlink-MasterCard E-payment gate will allow card users to deal with online transactions of buying and selling goods and services via five types of international cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB and Diners Club.
“It is completely in line with non-cash payment development policy pursued by the State Bank of Vietnam,” said Nguyen Thu Ha, chairwoman of the Smartlink management board.
Established in April 2007, Smartlink now has a network of 28 member banks, of which 21 banks have their ATMs connected. These banks issued 3.5 million cards which are accepted at more than 2,300 ATMs and 10,000 POS in Vietnam. (Vietnam Economic Times)
