Vietnam to Raise Meat Import Taxes from March 20

The Ministry of Finance has decided to raise import taxes of some kinds of meat, effective from Mar 20.
 
Accordingly, import tax on frozen pig and meat will be raised from 24 per cent to 28 per cent and tax on frozen and fresh beef will be hiked from 17 per cent to 33 per cent.
 
Meanwhile, imported frozen by-products of pig, buffaloes, cow, goat, horse and sheep will be levied from 10 per cent to 15 per cent.
 
The ministry also decided to cut tax on milk material, and animal feed from 2 per cent to 0 per cent.
 
This is the second time over the past six months the ministry cut meat import taxes. Analysts expected that the move will encourage local breeders. (Vietnam Agriculture, Youth)
