Vietnamese coffee exporters should see Morocco a very potential market as the country is now one of the biggest fresh coffee importers in the world, the InfoTV reported, citing the Trade Office in Morocco.

The office said Morocco imports around 28,000 tons of coffee yearly, of which 80 per cent is robusta coffee and only 20 per cent is arabica coffee.

Vietnam is now the world’s biggest robusta coffee exporter.

The office said Moroccan consumers like unpacked coffee due to low price, but noting that imported coffee to Morocco has to meet strict requirements on quality.

The office also advised Vietnamese companies should contact with Moroccan partners by French fax instead of email.

According to figure provided by the Vietnam General Customs Department, Vietnam exported 5,996 tons of unhusked robusta coffee to Morocco in 2008, worth US$12.2 million. (InfoTV)
