Canada Sees Vietnam Key Trade Partner: Diplomat

Canada always considers Vietnam an important partner of its international trade development strategy and wants the two nations will sign the agreement of foreign investment promotion and protection to facilitate the cooperation, a Canadian diplomat said.
 
Canada’s deputy foreign minister Leonard Edwards made the statement while holding talks with Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem in Hanoi April 16.
 
Deputy Minister Edwards also briefed the Vietnamese Deputy PM cum Foreign Minister of his working sessions with counterpart Nguyen Quoc Cuong, in which the two sides agreed specific measures to expand the all-rounded cooperation, particularly fields of economy, trade, investment, education and labor. 
 
The host for his part thanked Canada’ significant support to help Vietnam eliminate poverty, protect environment and develop the countryside.
 
He hoped the Canadian government would continue cooperating with the Vietnamese side in the education and training field and promptly recognize the country’s full-market economy status.
 
During his stay in Vietnam, Deputy Minister will attend the signing of the phase 2 of an UN-sponsored project ‘Capacity improvement for Vietnam’s legal executive bodies in fighting against money laundering. The Canadian side has financed a total of US$400,000 to the project. (People’s Army, CPV)
