Popularising AJCEP and VJEPA Agreements in HCMCity
On April 14, 2009, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) coordinates with the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and concerned agencies to open a workshop to introduce important contents of the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership (AJCEP) Agreement and the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA).
The VJEPA is a comprehensive bilateral agreement covering trade in goods, trade in services, investment, business environment improvement, labour mobility and technical standard cooperation.
This agreement will encourage economic cooperation, commercial exchange and investment between Vietnam and Japan to promote strengths of both sides in the regional and international arenas.
Vietnam and Japan started with negations of VJEPA in January 2007 and completed nine rounds of negotiation. The agreement was signed on December 25 by Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade, Vu Huy Hoang, and Japanese Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations establishment.
This seminar provided specific information on tax cut roadmap, original principles, opportunities and challenges in doing business with Japan to Ho Chi Minh City-based companies
