Japan has pledged to increase 10 per cent of its ODA for Vietnam each year, Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc said.

Japan, the biggest ODA provider for Vietnam, as a strategic partner will increase ODA aids for Vietnam in coming years, Minister Phuc noted.

“Vietnam will use effectively the ODA aids by Japan, seeing them as very important investments,” Phuc said.

Japan is in process of studying big infrastructure development projects including Hi-tech Zone of Lang-Hoa Lac, north-south railway and many transport projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Phuc added.

Of the US$45 billion ODA aids in total international donors have funded for Vietnam to date, ODA loans by Japan accounted for 30 per cent, a quite big figure, Phuc said.

Japan and Vietnam have just signed an ODA resumption note, under which Japan will provide approx US$900 million for four infrastructure projects, one month after it halted because of corruption-related scandal of PCI. (chinhphu.vn)
