Vietnam PM Welcomes Singapore Newly-Accredited Ambassador
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received Singapore’s newly accredited ambassador to Vietnam Nam Wong Wie Kuen late March 25 in Hanoi, saying he hoped the new ambassador would contribute to boost further the two nations’ friendship and ties.
The PM affirmed the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Singapore have developed significantly in various fields, particularly after the signing of a framework on economic connection in December 2005.
Dung appreciated the role of Singaporean businesses operating in Vietnam, contributing to bring the two-way trade to US$12 billion last year, up 22 per cent on year.
Singapore’s investment into the country has increased to over US$16 billion so far.
The Vietnamese PM also said he was glad to welcome the visit of Singapore’s senior minister, former Prime Minster Lee Kuan Yew, to Vietnam next month. .
The Singaporean diplomat thanked the Vietnamese top leader’s warm reception given to him and pledged to try his utmost during his term to strengthen the Vietnam-Singapore relationship. (chinhphu.vn)
