Vietnam Launches Consulate in Italy's Turin, Planning Another in Venice
The Vietnamese Embassy in Italy officially inaugurated Mar 20 its consulate office in the Turin city, as part of efforts to promote cultural activities and support the Vietnamese community in the area of Turin, Piemonte and Liguria, as well as contribute to strengthen both nations’ relations and ties.
The launching ceremony saw the presence of Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Van Nam, representatives of the Piemonte region and Turin, the Italy-Vietnam commercial division, and Vietnamese expatriates in the country.
Ambassador Nam handed over a decision by Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem to appoint Sandra Scagliotti, an active participant in activities to introduce Vietnamese culture and history to the Italian people, as Vietnam’s honor consul here.
The two sides are planning to open another consulate in Venice in near future.
Vietnam and Italy marked the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties last year.
Bilateral trade between the two nations was estimated to hit US$1.5 billion last year.
Italy now has 28 FDI projects in Vietnam, with total registered investment capital of US$114.5 million. (VNA)
