Vietnam PM Receives Former German Chancellor

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on March 30 held talks with former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder who is on visit to Vietnam as an advisor to some German and European economic giants.
 
PM Dung appraised this time’s trip to Vietnam by former German Chancellor, believing Mr. Gerhard Schroeder, at his new position as an economic advisor, would contribute significantly to both nations’ friendship and multifaceted cooperation in economy, culture, education, health, science and technology.
 
Former Chancellor told the host his trip is aimed to promote Germany’s investment projects in the country, advertise the investment environment and cooperation between both nations and prepare for the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2010.
 
They also talked about the current global economic downturn, discussing the crisis’s impacts to each nation and preventive measures.  
 
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Germany reached US$3.2 billion last year. German businesses poured US$600 million in total into projects in Vietnam. (chinhphu.vn)
