Vietnam Learns U.K.’s Experiences in Judicial Reform

A delegation from the Central Steering Board for Judicial Reform warped up Apr 6 a working visit to the U.K. and Northern Ireland to study the island nation’s judicial system and introduce the country’s policy in building, perfecting the legal system and implementing the judicial reform, Vietnam News Agency reported.
 
The trip, chaired by Deputy PM Truong Vinh Trong, was also aimed to learn about the UK’s viewpoint in implementation of the agreements on transfer of convicts, and judicial assistance in criminal matters between the two nations in accordance with the joint statement signed during PM Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit to the U.K. March last year.
 
At a meeting with Justice Secretary Jack Straw, Deputy PM Trong asked the U.K. side to assist Vietnam in judicial verification, and English and international law training for Vietnamese judicial workers in order to serve the integration’s requirement.
 
Secretary Jack Straw committed the U.K. would assist Vietnam and cooperate with relevant Vietnamese agencies within its capacity.
 
During their stay here, Vietnamese judges made fact-finding trips to the U.K. Royal Court and a number of British lawyers’ associations. (News, VNS)
