Vietnam Exports 7.78 Mln Tons of Coal in Jan-April, Down 11.1 per cent
Vietnam is estimated to have exported 7.78 million tons of coal in the first four months this year, valued at US$389 million, down 11.1 per cent on year in volume and 9.6 per cent on year in value, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO).
In April, the Southeast Asian country is forecast to have shipped abroad 2.2 million tons of coal worth US$110 million, the office said.
This year, the country is forecast to export 20.5 million tons, 500,000 tons higher than 2008.
Vietnam is currently key coal supplier to China and Japan. (GSO April 2009)
