Vietnam Apr Cement Consumption Hits 4.34 Mln Tons

Vietnam’s cement consumption in April increased to 4.34 million tons in contrary to the slow sales in the first quarter with 200,000 tons in stock as the country is now in the construction season, said the Ministry of Construction.
 
The figure has brought the country’s total consumption to 13.99 million tons during the first four months of this year.
 
In Jan-Apr, Vietnam’s cement production output reached 14.18 million tons, equaling to 32.2 per cent of the year’s target.
 
Consumption of other construction materials such as glass, bricks and steel are also on the rise, said the ministry.
 
The ministry also forecast the national cement demand will be 44 million-45.5 million tons in 2009, up 10 per cent-11 per cent against 2008. (Young People)
