Vietnam Coal Consumption Falls 13.2 per cent to 5.78 M Tons in Jan-Apr

Cities and provinces across Vietnam reportedly consumed a total 5.78 million tons of coal in the first four months of this year, down 13.2 per cent on year, the Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin).
 
In the January-April, coal consumption by the electricity sector fallen 16.4 per cent on year and by the paper sector 17.4 per cent on year.
 
Vietnam had produced 13.44 million tons of clean coal in the first four months of this year, down 7.9 per cent on year.
 
In the four-month period, the country exported 7.78 million tons of coal valued at US$389 million, down 11.1 per cent on year in volume and 9.6 per cent on year in value.
 
Vinacomin targets coal sales will hit 42 million tons in the second quarter this year, including 22 million tons for exports.
 
This year, the group has targeted to produce 40 million tons of coal this year. (New Hanoi)
