Vietnam to Spend US$1.82 Bln for Rural Vocational Training by 2020
Vietnam plans to invest VND32.67 trillion (US$1.82 billion) to provide vocational training to some 12 million rural laborers from now to 2020, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs told a two-day government meeting.
Of that fund, it will spend VND31.13 trillion for the training and buying of equipment for vocational training centers and the rest for intensive training for commune officials, Dac said.
The plan said some 800,000 rural workers will take courses between 2009 and 2010.
As many as 5.2 million rural workers will offered vocational training courses in 2011-2015 period, meanwhile 6 million others are expected to undergo the courses from 2016 to 2020.
The courses will be in the areas of irrigation, drainage, rural hygiene, farm and agricultural services.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung pointed out that are a total of 34 million rural workers who need vocational training. (Young People, Vietnam Law)
