Vietnam Ranks 2nd among Footwear Exporters to Spain
Vietnam’s footwear accounted for 9.6 per cent of the volume and 14.6 per cent of the value of Spain’s total imports, ranking the second among footwear exporters to the European nation behind China.
Statistics of the Federation of Spanish Footwear Industries (FICE) showed that Vietnam exported 33.1 million pairs of shoes valued at EUR271.8 million (US$363.51 million) to Spain in 2008, an on-year rise of 10.5 per cent in volume and 23.4 per cent in value.
Last year, Spain imported 345.03 million pairs of shoes worth more than EUR1.8 billion, down 2.2 per cent in volume but up 6 per cent in value.
China’s footwear exports made up 70.6 per cent of the volume and 33 per cent of the value of the southern European market’s total imports.
Apart from China and Vietnam, Spain also imports footwear from Italia, Portugal, Indonesia, India, France and Brazil. (VNS)
