Vietnam to Set up More Trade Offices in Europe, America, Middle East

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has given the green light to the establishment of more trade offices in the Middle East, Europe and America from now to 2010, aiming to accelerate bilateral trade ties.
 
This is part of plans by the government to boost exports amid the global turmoil.
 
Under the decision, four trade offices will be set up in Israel, Venezuela, Panama and Saudi Arabia.
 
A sub-office of the Vietnam Trade Office in the U.S. will also be established and some others in the aforementioned areas.
 
Vietnam has established trade ties with 165 countries and territories worldwide, of which, 84 have invested in Vietnam, said Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Le Danh Vinh.
 
In the first four months, Vietnam is estimated to have exported US$18.636 billion, down 0.1 per cent, while imported US$17.835 billion, down 41 per cent on year, the GSO noted. (News)
