U.S. Prolongs Preliminary Probe Into Vietnam PE Bags for Anti-dumping
The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has decided to extend the preliminary investigation into the anti-dumping suit against polyethylene (PE) bags imported from Vietnam for more 65 days till August 28, the ministry of Industry and Trade said June 4.
So, the DOC has lengthened the preliminary investigation to maximally 130 days in accordance with the U.S. Law on Anti-Subsidy.
The DOC officially started the investigation April 20.
This is the first time Vietnam’s products have faced both anti-subsidy and anti-dumping lawsuit at the U.S. market.
The U.S. imported PE bags worth about US$19.2 million from Vietnam in 2006. The figure increased to US$71.8 million in 2007 and US$85.8 million last year, the DOC’s figures showed. (Pioneer)
