India Levies Anti-dumping Tax on Vietnam’s Fluorescent Bulbs
The Indian Ministry of Finance has announced anti-dumping taxes on compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) coded HS 8539 imported from Vietnam at between US$0.452-US$1.582 per bulb, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT)’s Competition Management Department said.
The decision followed the Indian Directorate General of Anti-dumping (DGAD)’s conclusion, which indicated that these products are being sold at dumping prices in India.
The selling prices of Vietnamese compact bulbs in India are lower than the normal prices with average dumping amplitude of between 70 per cent-85 per cent, said the DGAD.
The anti-dumping tax will be imposed for five years with effect from November 21, 2008, said the ministry.
Vietnam reportedly exported around 14 million compact bulbs to India during the 2003-2007 period, making up 4.46 per cent of the market share.
Since mid-March India has imposed anti-dumping taxes on three products originated from Vietnam, including yarns and fabrics, and compact discs-recordable (CD-R).
In early Apr, India also has decided to conduct a dumping investigation into hot rolled steel and steel sheet imported from Vietnam and other countries. (Labor, Youth)
