Vietnam Top 10 Securities Brokers Hold 87 per cent Market Share for Foreigners
The ten leading securities companies in Vietnam occupied a combined 87 per cent of market share in brokerage for foreign investors and 50 per cent of that for domestic investors in 2008, the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) released in its annul report.
At the HOSE, 91 securities members held 531,350 accounts, including 30,000 accounts belonging to five giants: Vietcombank Securities (VCBS), Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), Bao Viet Securities (BVSC), ACB Securities (ACBS) and BIDV Securities (BSC).
SSI took the lead in providing brokerage services for both foreign and domestic investors, with 36.91 per cent and 8.53 per cent of the market share, respectively, followed by BVSC with 18.64 per cent and VCBS with 6.11 per cent, respectively.
For fund certificate, SSI occupied up to 10.42 per cent of the market share of brokerage for local investors, and 48.03 per cent for foreigners.
VCBS ranked first in bond brokerage, with 27.92 per cent for the local and 65.78 per cent for foreigners.
Currently, SSI is also a bluechip on the HOSE, and BVSC is a giant on the HASTC. The two are traded at VND79,000 and VND64,000, respectively. (HOSE’s annual report, Stock Investment)
