Three More Service Providers to Join Vietnam Mobile Market
Three more mobile phone service providers are preparing to join the local market as part of Vietnam’s commitment to open its telecommunications market under its membership in the World Trade Organization, the online newspaper Vietnamnet reported.
GTel Telecom, VTC and Dong Duong will operate on new 3G services.
GTel Telecom has finished its discussion with VinaPhone, currently the biggest service provider with 20 million subscribers, to launch the Beeline service.
VTC and Dong Duong are seeking partners to complete the process. By providing services without the need for frequency registration, the two networks will be able to deploy their services in a short time, experts said.
They will only need to co-operate with one of six current providers and launch services based on technology foundations, transmission station networks and frequency ranges of their partners.
The participation of three new service providers will create a stronger discount program in the market. Earlier this month, VinaPhone, MobiFone and Viettel marked the largest promotion programs by cutting 21 per cent of their call charges.
Viettel, Vinaphone, MobiFone and EVN Telecom-HT Mobile incorporation are now eligible to provide 3G services. (Vietnamnet)
