The Indian Ministry of Finance has announced anti-dumping taxes on recordable compact discs (CD-R), coded HS 8523.40, imported from Vietnam at US$46.94 per 1,000 discs.

The decision followed the Indian Directorate General of Anti-dumping (DGAD)’s conclusion, which indicated that these products are being sold at dumping prices in India.

The selling price of Vietnamese CD-R in India is 54.6 per cent lower than the market price of other CD-R sold there, said the DGAD.

The anti-dumping taxes will be imposed for five years with effect from Mar 13, 2008, said the ministry.

Vietnam exported 71.4 million CD-R to India between 2006 and 2007, making up 12.97 per cent of the country’s total CD-R imports.

Early this month, the Indian Ministry of Finance also imposed anti-dumping taxes on compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) originating in Vietnam, coded HS 8539, between US$0.452 and US$1.582 per bulb. (New Hanoi)
