Chevron, MOECO and PTTEP just now signed a Donation Agreement with Habitat for Humanity Vietnam (Habitat Vietnam) to provide housing to disadvantaged people in the Mekong Delta. According to the agreement, the three energy companies, who are investors in an offshore gas project that will fuel power plants in Ca Mau and O Mon , will provide sustainable housing solutions, including water, sewerage, and sanitation, for underprivileged communities in Kien Giang Province. Chevron employees will also participate in Habitat Vietnam’s activities by joining in the building of homes in Tien Giang and Vinh Phuc Provinces later this year. Total value of this donation is approximately VND530 million (US$30,000).

Speaking at the event, Chevron Vietnam President, Hank Tomlinson said Chevron is committed to building partnerships with the Vietnamese Government, the local communities, and with NGOs like Habitat for Humanity. “Chevron’s goal for this sponsorship is to enhance the provision of basic human needs by constructing and upgrading houses, and the associated water and sewage systems, thereby improving the lives of the residents of Kien Giang.”
