Thai Hoa Group June 8 kicked off construction on a coffee processing factory with total investment of US$5 million in Mai Son district of Son La province, the first of its kind in the Vietnamese northwestern region, the Industry and Trade Ministry website reported.

Once operational in the next three months, the factory will be capable of processing 30,000 tons of high-quality coffee beans per annum.

It will be fitted out with technology from the Brazilian Pinhanense Company, the most modern technology to process fresh coffee beans in Vietnam so far.

The factory is part of a US$6.51-million project carried out by the Thai Hoa Group to build a coffee processing and microbial fertilizer manufacturing complex in the district.

The northwestern region, especially Son La province which is now home to 3,400 hectares of coffee trees with output of 3,500 tons, currently owns much potential for Arabica coffee cultivation.

Coffee products originated from Son La province are now much favored in U.S. market. (Capital Security)
