Vietnam Airlines to Launch Four New Domestic Air Route Soon
National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will soon open four new domestic routes, aiming to shorten the flying times on several routes, simplify flight licensing procedures and the efficiency of aviation monitoring, said an official from the airline.
Phan Xuan Duc, deputy general director of Vietnam Airlines said the four new routes include will be officially operated from July 2 this year.
The routes link Meo Vac in the northern province of Ha Giang and Noi Bai in Hanoi, central Hue city’s Phu Bai and Central Highlands Pleiku province, Tan Son Nhat Airportin Ho Chi Minh City and Baven in China and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho to Buon Ma Thuot in the Central Highlands, he added.
The official noted that the new routes will help lessen from three to four minutes for each flight, saving some US$400 of flight costs per minute.
The airline estimates it will have 17,920 flights using the four new routes annually and the new routes will help it save up to hundreds of billions of VND every year.
Deputy Minister of Transport and Head of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV), Pham Quy Tieu, his agency will adjust six domestic routes to serve international flights.
The routes are Vinh-Danang, Assad-Pleiku, Phu Cat-Can Tho, An Loc-Cam Ranh, Tan Son Nhat-Can Tho and Noi Bai-Na San.
At present, 21 domestic air routes and 27 international air routes are operating in the Southeast Asian country, the CAAV reported. (Youth, VNA, The People)
