VNPT Makes US$2.7B Rev in 2008, Takes Lead Among Telecom Firms
Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) posted revenues of VND45.3 trillion (US$2.7 billion) in 2008, taking the lead in providing telecommunication and internet services in Vietnam, the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) said on its website.
The group contributed VND6.8 trillion to the state budget during the year.
The Military Telecom Corp. (Viettel) took the second position with revenues of VND33 trillion, followed by Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) Telecom with VND3.7 trillion, and the Vietnam Multimedia Corp. (VTC) with VND3 trillion.
VNPT accounts for up to 70.98 per cent of the market share in landline subscription, followed by EVN Telecom with 15.51 per cent, Viettel with 12.5 per cent, and Saigon Postel Corp. (SPT) 1.01 per cent.
In terms of mobile subscription, the group makes up 51.85 per cent of the market share, Viettel 30.87 per cent, SPT 8.56 per cent and EVN Telecom 1.52 per cent.
For the market share of broadband internet subscription, VNPT holds 58.25 per cent, Viettel 16.76 per cent and FPT Group 15.38 per cent.
The telecom group expects to gain revenues of VND60 trillion this year by developing its traditional core services, such as landline and mobile phones and broadband internet. (
