In recent years, Vietnamese wood furniture industry has greatly developed, making the country one of the major wooden product exporters in South East Asia region. Following the success of the first Vietnam International Furniture and Home Appliance Fair (VIFA 2008), the VIFA 2009, organized by HAWA, created many chances for wood manufacturers in Vietnam to promote their products worldwide. Sao Nam Flooring - one of many local wooden furniture manufacturers – gets positive signs from such a fair.

Through the first day of VIFA 2009, Sao Nam Trading and Manufacturing Company (SNC) -known as Sao Nam Flooring - signed 3 contracts with importers from Germany and Norway for 5 containers of engineer oak flooring and 1 container of worktop. Besides, another contract valued at US$ 600 thousand was also signed with a Russian importer. According to Mrs. Do Thi Kim Loan, General Director of SNC, supporting activities like VIFA 2009 is very good for local wooden manufacturers. “This is a chance for us to show up our products as well as to enhance our product promotion effectiveness”, shared Mrs. Loan.

The achieved success of SNC, specifically its brand “SAO NAM FLOORING”, is not only based on her flair for chance but also on the high quality production line. SNC’s flooring products are manufactured by the “clean and green” technology which is friendly with the natural environment. Products are well-compatible and meet criteria of strict markets such as US, Japan and Europe. At the same time, raw materials are carefully selected to meet the International standard and satisfy the customers. White Oak and Black Walnut –two main raw materials- are certified and imported from US, France and Germany. In addition, SNC has invested an engineer flooring line worth of a half million US Dollars This helps save a considerable amount of execution cost as well as causes no worry about the cost of glue & manpower.

The ongoing global economic crisis is likely to affect numerous local enterprises in Vietnam although this may be lighter than in other countries. Wooden Furniture industry is not an exception. SNC is severely affected by this economic turmoil. This turmoil affects on 50 percent of SNC’s business activities and purchase orders. “It will be great if we – wooden furniture manufacturers – receive much more support from the Government, relevant organs and sectors in term of financial assistance. At the same time, we hope that more local and foreign furniture exhibitions and fairs are regularly organized so that we can overcome current difficulties which the world economic slowdown is promisingly continuing”, added Ms Loan.
