Vietnam Exports 11.922M Tons of Coal in Jan-Jun, Down 9.4 per cent On-year
Vietnam is estimated to have exported 11.922 million tons of coal in the first six months this year, valued at US$591 million, down 9.4 per cent on-year in volume and down 15.7 per cent on-year in value, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO).
In June, the Southeast Asian country is estimated to have shipped abroad 2.1 million tons of coal worth US$110 million, the office said.
This year, the country is forecast to export 20.5 million tons, 500,000 tons higher than 2008.
Vietnam is currently the key coal supplier to China and Japan. (GSO June 2009)
