Vietnam H1 Retail Sales, Services +20 per cent to US$32.396B
Vietnam was estimated to have reported total retail sales and services revenue of VND547.5 trillion (US$32.396 billion) in the first half of this year, up 20 per cent on-year, the government's General Statistics Office reported.
Excluding price increase factors, Vietnam’s retail sales and services grew only 8.8 per cent during the period.
Total retail sales and services of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City reached VND194.1 trillion (US$11.485 billion), making up 35.4 per cent of the country’s sum during the time with Hanoi at VND69.1 trillion, up 19.5 per cent on-year and Ho Chi Minh City at VND125 trillion, up 17.9 per cent on-year.
During the period, the trade sector, the largest retailer, saw revenue up 20.7 per cent to VND429.2 trillion, equivalent to 78.4 per cent of the country's total retail sales.
The hotel and restaurant sectors report a revenue rise of 17.3 per cent to VND61.9 trillion, and the service sector saw an increase of 17.6 per cent to VND50.9 trillion. (GSO June 2009)
