LILAMA – A High-ranking EPC of Vietnam

LILAMA is leading in the application of modern technology in construction and installation of major projects on energy, mechanics, building materials and supply of modern equipment for factories of import substituting products. With unceasing development, LILAMA is making substantial contribution to Vietnamese manufacturing industry.
 
First Vietnamese EPC
Lilama was chosen by the Government to be EPC for the building of Uong Bi expansion power station of 300 MW capitalized at US$300 million. This has turned Lilama from sub-contractor of foreign companies to EPC. Then Lilama was decided by the government to be general EPC for Ca Mau 1 & 2 Gas Power Stations with total capacity of 1,500 MW, completed the project in two years and connected to national power grid in mid-May, 2008. Lilama also participated and won EPC bidding for Nhon Trach 1 of 450 MW, O Mon of 660 MW, and recently Nhon Trach 2 of 750 MW, Vung Ang 1 of 1,200 MW, etc. It also participated with foreign EPC in joint venture projects such as Marubeni (Japan) and acted as EPC for Na Duong thermal power station.
 
In addition to the role as EPC, in its development strategy, Lilama will become project investor. Together with Hanoi Import-Export Corporation, Lilama has invested in Thang Long cement plant of 2.3 million tonnes/year and marketed its product in late December 2008. The government has also decided that Lilama and some foreign investors will invest in Vung Ang 2 thermal power plant of 1,200 MW.
 
Vietnamese ranking manufacturer
Lilama has established itself in the sector with advantages in equipment, manpower and experience. It has expanded manufacturing plants and purchased more equipment, signing series of contracts with local and foreign partners. It plans to increase the domestization of projects to 75 percent, manufacturing equipment of absolute precision, gaining high appreciation by local and foreign companies.
 
Lilama has several member companies with fast development including Haiphong ship-building and equipment manufacturing Co., Ltd. Director General of the company, Mr. Tran Viet Khanh said that with a factory area of 16 hectares and modern equipment, the company can produce some 25,000 tonnes of equipment including steel structure of 15,000 tonnes, subordinating equipment of 4,000 tonnes and non-standard equipment of 6,000 tonnes. Currently, the company is expanding into a leading centre of manufacturing steel structure and equipment in Vietnam. Accordingly, the company continue to participate in such as Uong Bi expansion, National Convention Centre, Na Duong, O Mon, Dung Quat oil refinery, Baarh thermal power (India) and projects in Japan, USA, Australia, etc. with export contract as high as US$45 million.
 
Lilama 69-3 JSC in Hai Duong is also a strong manufacturing unit in Northern Vietnam. It manufactures some 18,000 tonnes of equipment a year accounting for 60 percent of total production value. The company is producing 4,792 tonnes of equipment for Hoang Thach cement project, 6,267 tonnes of equipment for the second production line of Chinfon cement plant (Haiphong) by contract with PCEC (Taiwan), 1,411 tonnes of equipment and steel structure for Thang Long cement plant, 3,000 tonnes of equipment for Binh Phuoc cement plant, 1,849 tonnes of equipment for Song Thao cement plant, 300 tonnes for equipment for Thanh Cong 3 cement plant, etc. It has recently signed contract with FL. Smidth-MVT (Germany) for export equipment worth US$5 million.
 
Lilama 69-2 JSC is known by local and foreign partners in producing electro-filtre dust equipment. In addition to meeting domestic demand, the company has export products to several countries. The factory can produce some 2,000 tonnes for equipment a year and together with other companies produce 620 tonnes of equipment for Nam Cong 3 hydro power station, 250 tonnes of equipment for Lam Thach cement plant (Quang Ninh), 1,069 tonnes of  steel structure for conveyor at Chinfon cement plant, 310 tonnes dust filtre equipment for Kukuyama steel plan, 32 tonnes of dust filtre equipment for limestone factory (Finland) worth US$111,00, 241 tonnes of steel structure and related equipment for ship loading (Germany), most recently, for FAM Magdenurger Forderanlagen und Banmaschinen GmbH worth Eur 274,000. The total value of contracts contributed to the annual turnover some 40-50 percent.
 
As EPC to many important projects, Lilama has proven its growth in both size and quality, promoting Lilama brand not only in Vietnam but also in the world market.
